Texas Joe Valles...Yamaha Guitar Model SBG500 THE ONE THAT GOT AWAY... 

One guitar Joe loves the sound and feel of and these guitars are always consistent in feel tone and vibe is the Yamaha SBG series...they are awesome guitars that are well built sound excellent and are getting harder to come by..this model was designed in the 1970's by Yamaha but really took off in the early 1980's its a great guitar...........Texas Joe's particular model Yamaha SBG 500 sad to say is no longer in his possesion due to costs and bills last year 2010 during the building of our new studio somethings had to be sold and regretably this guitar was one that is now sadly missed....Texas Joe found it in a pawnshop in Harlingen, Texas in 2009 and purchased it for less than 200 dollars !  it was all grimy and dirty but was broughtback to life..and was used alot during 2009 and 2010...here are some pix of Texas Joe proudly holding an amazing Yamaha SBG 500 .  hope to get another one sooner or later........note the really nice looking top..onthis particular model.  enjoy !

Several of my biggest guitar heros have used The Yamaha SBG series guitars...Bill Nelson of Be Bop Deluxe,Brian Robertson of Thin Lizzy & of course Carlos Santana ...note the beautiful Violin Sunburst finish,,,ahh ,...I hope I find another one just like this !   great sound ,great looks,great tones,great feel....and very solid build these guitars rule !

One of the wildest guitars Texas Joe owns is a total custom built guitar ..known as The Butter Fly Guitar ...the guitar was built by Peter Mark Glass in Austin Texas back in 2003...from plans Texas Joe had given Peter Mark...it is inspired by the Karl Sandoval Mega Zone Model guitar ..as used by J.P. Warino..from Los Angeles..a friend of Texas Joe's and The Wayne Charvel Hydra Guitar made famous by Eddie Van Halen in the late 1970's and early 1980's ...

Texas Joe Valles guitar is made of Alder wood  and handcut by Peter Mark in his little shop in Austin Texas ...the Butterfly Paint job was designed by Texas Joe & his mom!
and carried out by a former student of Peter Marks in Austin..it is an excellent paint job.! Peter Mark finished the clear coat.
The neck ws made by Phil Gawenda of Brownsville Texas of Phiga Guitars..with crop circle inlays,rosewood neck,loking tuners,22 jumbo frets,white binding..with a "C" shape profile 3 on a side headstock..the neck feels excellent !
electronics are a early 1980's DiMarzio Super Distortion in Bridge Position, Di Marzio X2N in Middle position and a Fender Mex single coil in front position...5 way switch...tone and volume pots...the guitar has a very light feel to it and has a very smooth..low to midrange vibrant tone..when over driven...and a darker clean tone .
The guitar has not seen much use lately but more than likely will be used to record at least one song on new 2012 Mermaid Blues album...here are some pictures below enjoy...!

Noe's little baby boy rocks out for 1 st time ! Thanksgiving Day .  

On Thnksgiving Day..the family got together and had a great Turkey Dinner with all the fixings ..(thanks mom) and it was great all laughs and smiles...and it was nice to see our family get together...but the bonus was seeing ..Noe's new little baby boy ...(less than a year old) already baby talking and being a fun baby to watch......during the family  get together.......after dinner ...we decided to play some new songs for a bit......and Noe decided to take ...the little one ...to watch us play.... ..man was it fun.......his eyes bugged out an awe!  it was a site to see his little boy was soo ..observent one minute watching Eloy on Drums the next watching Texas Joe on the guitar..it was great...he was following our evey move... as Noe held him......it was amazing to me to say the least.....we laughed in amazement...as he didnt cry and scream or ..fidget he just watched in total awe as Noe held him....well I told Noe to bring him close to the drum set...and give him a drum stick ..and right away ..little baby J  was rocking...hitting the cymbal..and smiling...loving every minute of it !  we all were laughing .....Texas Joe happened to have his camera...and snapped....some pix of Noe Valles ..holding his ababy boy ..while he hits the cymbals and drums in more or less time !!!  we loved it ...it was great ...the baby loved it also....here is a pic of the whole event...

as we write this we are working on the songs for Mermaid Blues our next record...since next year we are either gonna make a huge move...or finnally start our American Tour ...so we hope to have 3 albums available to people...at shows and for download....

Copz Lounge gig Thursday Nov 17th 2011 finally a Large Crowd in South Texas (that digs our music !) 

Hi everybody ..hope your having a good day..where ever your from. Today we got a ton of hits from Sweden...so hello to all of you over there..!  and to the people in Georgia,Wisconsin,South Dakota,Japan,England and  Illinios..thnx for hitting up our website..! we love the fact all of you are hitting up our website..its a good feeling knowing we are getting fans from all over the world ! Last night was an excellent case for the Old Addage:"Just Keep Rockin' Sooner or Later People will digg what you are doing..." well it did and it was awesome ! our gig @ Copz Lounge in Harlingen Texas was excellent..we did one hour of our own music, mostly the songs off our 2011 new album Witch Tree...and the audience loved it ! what a great feeling ! people were humming the melodies of our songs after we had finished the songs..and were clapping rather loudly and happily ..just the koolest ! people were digging on The Valles Flying Machine..last night big time...again such a good vibe ..such a good feeling ! Eloy Valles...our buddy Noe Gonzalez and your truly Texas Joe Valles..had a blast playing last night..video will be up on You Tube soon !  just look for it with date Nov 17th Copz Lounge...
I t was amazing how many people came up to us after the gig and congradulated us on our gig...and wanted to meet us and shake our hands and also telling us they loved the show and liked the songs alot...that makes an artist feel so good and you can tell in peoples eyes they are genuine...and happy..when they say it ! we as a band felt really good about the whole night .
The other kool thing that happened last night was that alot of people came up to me..and wanted to know what were those strange and kool looking guitars i was playing...I told them they were built by Wire Instruments...Earnie Bailey...Foo Fighters old guitar tech..Earnie also worked for Nirvana,Pearl Jam, and Neil Young ! his Sleepwalker Guitars that Texas Joe Plays are awesome !  and of course The Moon Ray 12 string is a oneof a kind ! Texas Joe thinks the best part of the whle night was when  beautiful 20 something very sexy looking  low cut top rocker girl came up and hugged and squeezed me very very hard rubbing her giant 42 DD's all over me ..causing a bunch of guys standing around to pop thier eyeballs out.(WHERE THE HELL IS THE CAMERA WHEN U NEED IT ! HA HA !).and laugh,cheer and raise a toast to me and  my new very happy and very sexy  lady friend ! ha ha !..this dark haired beauty..promised to be at our next gig...cant wait for that ..ha ha .. Needless to say Texas Joe was Over The Moon on that one ha ha ! what a great night at Copz Lounge...Dec 16th 2011 will be our next show there we hope some of you can show up and enjoy the good times !   below are some pix of the gig and Video on You Tube soon ..(video is about 50 minutes long ! )

People @ Copz Lounge were ready for something differant and when Texas Joe pulled out the 12 string Moon Ray  guitar people were very surprized alot of ooohhhs and ahhhs...the audience was not dissapointed...Valles Flying Machine rocked hard !


this guy behind Texas Joe was so happy to hear us he was calling all his friends.to come down to Copz Lounge and was high fiving everybody...he also went out of his way to meet and shake ELOY,NOE GONAZALEZ&TEXASJOE'S hands..promising to be at our next show...what a great guy and kool new fan !  also big thnx to Arron of Copz Lounge and Franco Chavez Productions for making this such a great show for us ! 

nobody was more happier last night than myself (Texas Joe Valles) with how well the gig went..total.total..success.....so many ups and downs in this business..its friggin crazy...between all the new fans..the loud crazy applause,the good vibes and handshakes..and the beautiful girl with big boobs squeezing me super tight.. and saying she loved our band..and we got paid cash money dollars...and sold cd's...well it was great ...rock and roll!  its great when it all goes soo well like last night..!

1st Monday gig we think we have ever done ! Papa Joe's Burgers Nov 14th 2011 

Hello and welcome back...its Wednesday Nov 16th 2011 and its been 2 days since our Papa Joe's Burgers gig in Harlingen Texas...We wanted to blog a little about the gig..1st of all it was a last minute thing...we got contacted about 3 ;30 p.m. on Monday by some friends if we might be able to do a gig in Harlingen ..that night..@ 8.P.M.  well we said yes..and got the info and around 7.30 showed up at Papa Joes for the gig..again Noe G. subbing in on bass guitar for Noe Valles ....its a 20 mile trip from B Town..to Harlingen Texas..where Papa's is located...well we set up...and did a 1 hour set...with alot of improv and all original music..our own songs not one cover...by any other band or artist...and we got paid..!  so little victories..and nice little dreams coming to fruition...the good thing is that our imrov skills have greatly..improved..plus making the best of a bad or shitty situation...we seem to over come them with no problem...we were told by a third party who offerd us the gig a P.A.system would be there ...well....not really...we had to improvise there..we almost did an instrumental gig...for the whole night which wouldnt be the 1st time !  anyway..a mic was found and a powered p.a. speaker..so we did some songs with vocals and everything turned out fine the audience was no worse for wear...it went very good....an intresting note...down here in South Texas gigs are drying up or almost none existant...we keep our ears to the ground and our attenas up in the air..and gigs are not plentiful..at all...seems other bands are having a hard time also...we have heard of bands...putting up the money for halls p.a. systems..beer..concessions..security...etc...and only small amounts of people showing up for the gigs.and the bands taking a huge financial loss..with no artistic..value or consequence being achieved !!!..well...we wont be doing that anytime soon..its a waste of time and money..here in South Texas....but what we have seen is a way to make money...consistantly...on a shoestring..budget...we have ..hit upon a formula..that we will implement very soon.... to make a little money..on a weekly basis just from gigging..and it looks like it can work...so try we will and success we will have ..! as for big plans..of touring across America...for now the winter has set in and we will not venture into snow..! so we are just gonna hunker down here in the Rio Grande Valley for better or worse...and...try and finish our next album Mermaid Blues..a 5 song E.P. which we will press up on cd.
On another note we video taped 40 mintues of our gig at Papa Joe's Burgers on Monday ..andit is up on You Tube..we used a Blue model Zoom Q 3 in stereo mode and it sounds fantastic...but becuse of lack of lighting in club...the footage is dim!  but still you get a good idea of a great gig if u wanna take a look...go for it...

Saturday Nov.12th2011 Clapton's "The Fool" Gibson 61 SG Les Paul... 

Texas Joe has always dreamed of having a replica of this guitar...always have loved Eric Clapton's "The Fool' Gibson SG ...the tone Clapton got out of the guitar using a Marshall Plexi 100 watt Valve Head & 4x12 Stack..and the songs Cream wrote...and the cool way Clapton looked and sounded ..while using this guitar...was very influental to me as a kid growing up...now this dream is with in reach...and hope to grab it soon ! spent like 3 hours the other nite...looking at Old Cream video footage...and watching Eric Clapton Jack Bruce & Ginger Baker ..go through the motions and weaving thier magic in and out of thier songs...man I loved it..!  very kool...we The Valles Flying Machine are huge fans of Cream...and take strong notes and lessons from this band into our own formula for rock and roll..we think we got some of that magic dust in our rock and roll ha ha !  ok have a  nice day take a look at this beautiful guitar below pictures of this iconic guitar are just wonderful...hopefully Texas Joe will have one soon !

Nov 2nd 2011 Practice with Martin C ..working on new songs... 

Hi everybody ! on Nov 2nd we got together with Martin Carrizalez our bass player from Valles Spaceship..and rehersed for the 1st time..in ages..Martin has been very busy with his Aeronautics College programs..os it was tuff for him to jam out with us...well we got a chance and we jammed out we hope to have Martin play some songs with us in the future also...he is a great friend and a great guy !   here are some pix...

Monday Oct 31st 2011 Cresent Moon gig... 

Hello folks here our some pix from our gig at Cresent Moon Cafe in Brownsville Texas Oct 31st 2011...about 9 or 10 people showed up at most ..this little cafe is very kool and a great place for bands...but it needs to be advertized or something...prices are cheap...and ...its a great place to listen to music..! ..this was our last in a series of freebee gigs...for the month of October...the best thing about it is we really stretched out on our jamming skills...fearless at most crazy at best ha ha ! ...we are working on some special...guest appearances for our.....Dec 16th gig in Harlingen..so lets hope it all goes well.and we are working on recording new songs for Mermaid Blues album.....for now here are Oct 31 st pics...enjoy....

Above .....it had been a very long time since I had used ..my Fender "The Bird' Stratocaster...live ...it did not dissapoint...friggin guitar really sang last night.... the sustain was crazy..!  when i kikked in the Zen drive or Tube Screamer..it was great, sounded fantastic ! im gonna be playing it live more often for sure ! ..I took this guitar as a back to the wrestling gig a couple of weeks ago but i did not use it live...it was only a back up..but at this gig it was way up front and it rocked !

Halloween Spookfest & Carnival Sat Oct29th 2011 extended jams are working for us... 

Hello and welcome to our latest blog ...im writing this only hours after our show...@ Halloween Spookfest & Carnival Oct 29th Saturday Night 2011  ...
The gig went well from a muscians standpoint the music flowed very well indeed...all three of us Noe G on Bass guitar..Eloy Valles on drums, vocals and Texas Joe Valles on guitar and vocals...went out on a limb on certain songs and stretched out and jammed into and out of and inside most of the songs...we started things off with a new song called ..Thankful for The Harvest...in instrumental form...it sounded really good..and then into Dancing Bears..followed by WitchTree..(which we have on video) and almost 2 minutes of Mook Lay Ans ...also on video...Mari...Who is It..? Butterfly Woman..rocked very hard....Landing Amongst The Giant Mushrooms..went very well.....and we ended things off with our rocker songs...Hearts Garden & Thick N Thin was our last number...the set went very very well from a musical stand point the songs getting better and better in performance as we go along..everybody felt at ease..and very focused..we all smiled at each other..and our gear sounded excellent ...!  special thanks to Tommy Vasquez ..our sound engineer for the night ,,,from VOXQUEZ ENT. this guy had a brand new P.A. system with a English ..Allen & Heath Mixing console...no wonder everything sounded so clear and ..articulate...he is an excellent M.C and and super cool sound guy we will work again with him in the future great guy ! 
And for the buggy problems..seems like all the bands scheduled to play..Spookfest tonight cancelled out...of the gig...were told this as we arrived..only becuse Eloy asked at random.....the only band that played this free bee gig..was Valles Flying Machine...intresting huh..?...I guess people wanna get paid to perform.....???.....after we got off stage a lone country solo act went up..maybe a last minute add on..?.but we left before he started....very few people in attendance...were we too early..? hardly anybody clapped...wtf..? is wrong with people...?  no food...no beers or sodas for the band...nobody running the carnival came up to say thank you..nothing ...seems to be alot of ungrateful s.o.b.'s running around these days...and to top it all off it was a freebee gig....seems like alot of people dont give a fuck about rock bands around ...here...its looking pretty clear ...in that dept..but why..?  why cant people appreciate our art..? and our work..to put on a show..?  does moron and idiocy come to mind..? lack of respect..?  our culture going to the tubes wholesale..? cant decipher bad from good..?   alot of questions...we keep asking ourselves about locals and local gigs...we play because we love to rock and roll...should we expect this to be the norm from now on..? its an intresting predicament...to be in...freebee gigs like this one...wind up costing us money in the end...what to do..?   funny thing is as i was mulling this over in my mind some kid walks by me from one of the taco stands..and said ..you guys rocked ..your really good I liked it alot..! you guys are bad ass ! ..I just smiled and thanked him...he smiled back.....I hope God hears me...we need a break ! bad..in that break we need alot of money rolling in also...to help defray costs...so plz help us ! its getting very hard to keep this up at this juncture in time...
if it was not for the practice we are getting honing in our jamband values...and our posisitve vibes....on a huge stage with a super clean and loud P.A.system...it sure as hell would not have been worth it...we have to thank Melissa Mendoza....for getting us the gig..we hope to get some better gigs out of all this....and we pray something very good comes from all this...because doing things like this for free can really hurt you financially in the long run !  so we are ..being extra careful from here until the end of the year as far as freebee gigs...2 more....coming up and both are paying gigs...so we will see how things go...in the meant time...dont be a caga palo...seriously buy some of our songs  here..

Gig @ Misty's Blues & Rock Bar McAllen Texas Thursday Oct 27th 2011  

Hello and welcome back to our blog...only a few more gigs to go and it will be the end of the year ! ..as far as gigging for The Valles Flying Machine's 2011 itinerary...of shows...tommorrow we are suppose to play at The Brownsville Spooktacular Halloween Carnival on Alton Gloor Road...but it depends on the weather and some very iffy production values as far as the people putting on the show so we will see....its a 50/50 chance we might or might not play.....

Last night at Misty's Blues & Rock Bar in McAllen Texas ...a 100 mile round trip..from Brownsville Texas...by the way....was one of those nights where everything went very smooth...and we as a band played very very good...we were on it no one in the band seemed worried...and we all played to the best of our abilities.Eloy Valles was in top form on drums...Noe Gonzalez was excellent on bass guitar...and Texas Joe Valles pushed the limits on his lead guitar playing ...and even on his vocals ! ...the gig was an excellent performance from our point of view..and the 15 or 20 people in the audience seemed to enjoy our songs.....very small turn out as the club easily holds 100 people......we sold  some cd's so thats good...but we also covered our butts on that angle...people dont seem to want to spend any money..but ..we came up with a plan...we now have 10 dollar Witch Tree cd..(our brand new one) we have our old cd's from 1998 & 2001  for 5 dollars...and we have a....  what I call a "welfare" homemade cd-r..for 1 dollar...! ha ha !  well last night we sold out our  1 dollar cd's  and sold some of our other cd's !  so we are very happy..!  thank you to all the people who bought them...In these very difficult times you have to be prepared as a band for difficult challenges  !  the "welfare" budget  cd is a good idea...people just dont wanna spend or dont have money to spend ..so you have to be prepared with what goes on...during your shows and you have to adapt !  we were very lucky..in that sense...!  so now to making more homemade cd-r's for our next gig !   gotta be ready..!

Gigs So Far for the year..Gigs Tentative for the rest of the year... 

Hello here is a recap of the shows we have done as a band...this year...its been interesting to say the least.

so that about wraps it up for now as for V.F.M. shows we suspect some more shows might pop up...but we are gonna try and keep it to a minimum..for the rest of the year so we can concentrate on the songs for Mermaid Blues E.P.

Oct 22nd 2011 gig at Hallowmania 3 event Free Bee gigs... 



The 2nd worst part of any gig is Humping Gear..! Loading up the Van.. Trailer and or Truck..!  the worst is tearing down after a gig and unloading late at night after the gig..thats the worst...luckly this night it was not so bad ! here Eloy and Noe G after load in ! Oct 22nd 2011...sometimes a gig pretty much takes your whole day..so imagine doing it for free..! then you get the idea !

Noe Gonzalez our good buddy helping out on bass guitar duties..his 1st time out with his new pawnshop prize a very kool high end  Warwick 5 String bass guitar Made In Germany... ..this thing sounds amazing very kool treasure..find on Noe G's part! he got this bass for a song and a dance at a local pawnshop....this thing goes for well over 2000.00 dollars new in a music store...he got it for a great great deal ! way below normal cost !

Texas Joe and Noe G during the event ...mainly we just played hard rock aggressive riffs in keeping with the wrestling theme...it was alot of fun coming up with riffs right on the spot !

Texas Joe's rig for the gig...just about everything you here excpet for The Fender Strat was all purchased used our second hand or in a pawnshop..through out the past 10/15 years....buying new gear...just to use at free gigs..just dont make sense..! you need road warrior gear for this type of event !



Eloy Valles..our sister Velma Valles and Texas Joe Valles after  our gig at Jacob Brown Auditorium Oct22nd 2011.. during tear down..Velma is no stranger to helping the band...tear down after a gig...! I can remember Austin, Texas... The Backroom Concert Hall..1992 ..! ha ha ! Velma there helping us out...we are still around The Backroom faded away into history......Thank You Velma for your love and support...!

Well above is a short story  in the pictures of our latest gig..Hallowmania3 @ Jacob Brown Auditorium in Brownsville Texas Oct 22nd 2011...we had alot of fun ..and the main thing we got out of doing this gig...is the fact we now as a band realize we can write and play guitar riffs right on the fly...in a Hard Rock Style or Classic Rock Style at the drop of a hat...we pretty much knew this but now under pressure of a gig in front of hundreds of people we can ad lib with no problem ...!  The whole deal was a wrestling match...and we were playing music for 2 to 5 minutes between wrestling boutes...and we decided to take a whole new approach...and do the 'late night show bag" that is do short segments of msic on the fly ...and it worked..!  Eloy and Texas Joe came up with really kool riffs and we realized we can do this no problem..!

The thing that has us really bothered as a band is that there are no or hardly any paying gigs..available anywhere in South Texas...almost all our gigs lately have been freebees ..and that kinda suxx because in the end it all costs money to move and shake...its ruff ! Stepping out of the house costs money....so we would like to get compensated and and get a little respect for our efforts..somehow... We knowingly take the free gigs becuse we like to play.....and the word has to get out about our band ....but ...the disturbing fact...is...we are not getting tips...we are not selling cd's ...and nobody wants to kik down any type of money....be it.. show organizers..wealthy/rich people...at shows..or music fans...and even worse now ...people who organize..events..dont even wanna bother giving you a free meal or free drinks whether its water beer/booze..or sodas! its getting very ruff out there...should we do the same..as a band....and hold out..? maybe organize gigs with other bands..?  or just concentrate on You Tube and Facebook..? and not leave the studio..? We are gonna have to do somehing about this plight..and its up to us collectively as rock and roll bands..or as lone wolves as a band by ourselves...we need to make money..somehow....we can give somethings for free...but we cant give away the farm..!  Another challenge we need to prevail over...how will it all go..? we hope for success...!

Cresent Moon gig in Brownsville Texas Oct13th2011..Finally 4 Zoom Cameras ! Burn Radio .... 

1st of all let me say hello to everyone who sees this blog..! hope you have a good day . Where to start...1st of all todays news then yesterdays news and pictures...
Well looks like we finally have enough Zoom Q3 cameras to film a semi pro video here in our own studio ! today Texas Joe ran around grabbing the last 2 Q3 720 aspects he had lay away ed in the pawnshops around the area..so we now have 4 of them ! 3 Blue Zoom Q 3 720 aspect ratio video recorders and 1 Silver Zoom Q3 HD 1080 aspect video recorder..these things are neat full 24 bit stereo recording this things rock ! here is a picture below ...of our collection ....

 its amazing what you will find in a pawnshop nowadays ! all the blue ones came out of Pawnshops here in South Texas all of them under 135 dollars ! 
the silver Zoom Q3 HD was purchased new from the now Defunct Dave's Music in Brownsville Texas
Now all we need is a simple version of Sony Vegas Pro Video Editing Software..(it runs for about 90 bux at Guitar Center)...and we are in the video recording mode full blast for the band ! 
This has long been an idea of Texas Joe as the internet has become more and more indispensible..all the music blog sites out there tell bands that live action videos are a must..for any band  You Tube & U-Stream are extremely important for bands to get thier music across to people who might have never heard of the band or to fans who want tohear the songs live but cannot attend shows for some reason or another !   So we are very lucky that with alot of sacrifice we have been able to make this jump and be self sustainable and do our own video production !  and that is an art form in itself..!!!  
which brings us to our next subject.....

The idea was put forth to Texas Joe via Rigo Bocardo of B.U.R.N. Radio of Brownsville Texas who has been recording bands at the Cresent Moon for several months...Rigo has alot of foresight can visualize great things for the art community in Brownsville Texas and he is a great guy to be around ! also thnx to Grady for hangin around and helping with cameras and logistics. its not an easy task but it is fun ..ha ha  ;0)
we recorded a bunch of songs and they are on U Stream.com and on You Tube.com

Texas Joe with his trusty Wire Inst.  MoonRay 12 string guitar just love this thing a whole new avenue for songwriting ! Note: for these gigs we are travelling lite ...due to the fact that alot of gigs have been very low paying or free!!!  (a subject for another day ..)  the band has agreed to travel extremely light as far as gear goes ...Texas Joe only carries his pedals a small class D Crate Powerblock amp...and his 2 Wire Instruments Guitars...thats it...cabinet what ever is at the gig...! usually its a Marshall 4x12 Texas Joe's Favorite anyway..!

this guitar is my favorite for live purposes Wire Instruments Sleepwalker Model..but I have a love hate relationship with The Lace Sensor pickups they sound good clean but its very give and take with the overdrive...but the weight and feel of the guitar is amazing  no doubt....

McAllen Texas gig Oct8th2011 Rained Out 3 and a half songs only....& FreeBee Gigs... 

Hi Everybody hope your doing well...Valles Flying Machine played a gig yesterday..Oct 8th 2011 Saturday ...in McAllen Texas...for free ..we will explain in a little bit...but 1 st the gig itself...we were contacted by a friend..about some gigs ..and a gig was offered for free...no pay but with the understanding good paying gigs might come out of this ...from the McAllen Chamber of Commerce ..well we took the gamble agreed and did the gig....it paid off...we were able to wrangle at least 2 more paying gigs out of the deal..so that was cool...but during our 4rth song we got rained out ! ha ha ! an explosive downpour had us putting away our musical gear in a jiffy ! ha ha ! the very 1st time we get rained out during a performance ! ..never in our lifetime as a band had we ever gotten stopped by rain..needless to say we were in good spirits and we laughed the whole thing off...We were placed under a tent as the sun was pounding yet we could see clouds in a distance...(the weather in South Texas turns spotty in October..due to change of seasons ) nobody thought we would get hit with rain so soon but it did and we were soaked...what a 1 st ! 

the last time I remember playing in the rain or should I say right after a huge downpour....as it was ending was in San Antonio Texas at Fiesta Days in 1999...! and we kept getting mild shocks ..the only time Texas Joe has ever used a Fender Twin Reverb Live...thats why I remember the gig...we were all standing on top of rubber mats and ..speaker covers but we kept getting mild shocks...at the San Antonio gig but we did our show anyway it was fun ! ...I used a Guild X 79 Melted Warped X guitar in Grey Sparkle  ...wish I still had it ha ha ! 

anyway....back to McAllen Texas Oct 8th 2011 Saturday...Texas Joe Would have kept playing but Eloy reminded me about getting shocked ..as the downpour started after our 3rd song....then the tent we were playing under buckled under the pressure of rain...and at least 3 buckets full of rain splashed down and hit right next to Eloy ..Noe G ..and very close to Texas Joe's amps...then ..we thought ok Eloy is right lets just stop...you could here the people getting bummed but the funny thing is they were getting wet also so they ran for cover..ha ha ! We managed to play ..
1.)Thankful for the Harvest ...(in instrumental form yesterday as our opening number due to the fact event  was called a Green Festival for City of McAllen..it went well..very well....)
2.) Dancing Bears...(some girls in little white shorts got to shaking thier booty during this song so we knew we wereon the right track !)
3.) Mook Lay Ans...(more dancing from pretty girls in little shorts..)
4.) Witch Tree .....(got to play maybe 1 minute 30 seconds then the torrential downpour hit !)

we loaded up our gear the rains only lasted about 15 minutes at the most...but water all over the ground and P.A. gear so shocks were imminent so we just finished loading up and went to EAT ! ha ha ! 
Before we left the lady in charge of the event...told us she would get us more gigs and that was so cool..so we were happy...we said goodbyes.and also thanked Angel of our buddy..and left for 5 Guys Burgers & Fries...an amazing new burger joint just opened in McAllen...which we discovered in St Louis Missouri  on our trip to Wisconsin.
we took a gamble and it paid off for the future because nowadays it almost stupid to do free gigs...nobody wants to pay or cant pay...so your left with some hard choices..!

Science Fiction&Songwriting..New Songs on The Way...October3rd2011.. 

Hello hope your having a good week ! Today Oct 3rd a very beautiful and gifted Lady friend of mine had her birthday..i met her many years ago...when she was young and she looks very nice and very pretty still and is an amazing person...she is almost 30years old...I hate age numbers but oh well...time marches on..which leads me to ..this point...A person has to do what they feel is right  because you only have one shot in this life and it has to count....I have been struggling with my band and some sort of success  ..while she has ..struggled with her family and job...yet we both keep pushing for our goals...i guess we both are strong in that sense ...and keep focused...we live very differant lives yet...we keep in touch and cheer each other on...I wish her the very best...
On the subject of women..I have these  illustrations from old sci -fi magazines of women...its funny even though we are reaching for the stars on many levels...in songwriting...topics..of songs...ideas...for concept albums..beautiful woman are always..with in grasp for subject matter..for our songs.,...just like it always has been in the sci fi field...I find that very kool and sometime hilarious....same old subject...new twist on the theme..!
we are working on some new songs..and women do play a important role in the songs...which is fine with us ! 
in closing we worked last night on a new song called Thankful For The Harvest and the rough idea came out better than expected...we hope to have an acoustic version of the song soon..up on You Tube...for everybody to enjoy...inthe meantime here are some kool very old sci fi pix i have found searching the net,concerning women in sci fi topics...enjoy....

Final Thoughts on our very last, late Sept.Sumnmer Mini-Tour/Shows for 2011 in Milwaukee Wisconsin 

Hello and welcome back to Valles Flying Machine's blog and final thoughts on our Milwaukee Wisconsin gigs and very late summer tour....and here we are now in the very 1st days of Fall 2011 .......a new chapter about to begin..in our lives as artists...
All in All it was a fabulous and fantastic little journey...... here it is 5 days after arriving back in South Texas yet we still feel a little buzz and glow and a sence of ..."wow unbelievable we did it " mentality...From the get go it seemed like an almost non-obtainable..feat..to try and go to Milwaukee...the logistics were so out there..how would we approach it...?  but with alot of thought,determination and contemplation, finnally we got all our ducks in a row we did it ! Eloy and Texas Joe with the Help of Noe Gonzalez....were able to breakout of South Texas and go very far away..and play our brand of rock and roll to an appreciative audience ..in Wisconsin..a serious note : if a person puts thier mind to it you can accomplish anything you want !
A big giant thank you to Daniel of RushMor Records ..in Milwaukee Wisconsin...with out his vision help and support  our little but giant jaunt to "The North" would not have happened..! we will be working with him more in the future...Thanks also to Alan Davey of English band Gunslinger for all his help and enthusiasm also..!

We feel very sad about the fact that it is extremely hard work..almost useless.to try and get recognition and a fanbase in South Texas due to the social climate of our area let alone..the economic down turn that has gripped the area also..! so in the face of all this we will stubbornly try and put some effort into breaking new ground in South Texas and fine tuning our show...here in South Texas..write more and better songs have a visual light show..new and exotic instruments..gather a fanbase ..to keep reaching out...to far away places to bring our music to new audiences all over the United States and the world.Our next phase of artistic growth is about to begin !
October 2011 will see new Valles Flying Machine songs come to life...like no one expects..! and they will rock !
  A whole slew of new songs are about to be recorded for placement on Itunes/Bandcamp/on CD's/and Vynil-records/and other downloadable websites..

One thing people have to realize is this; The whole time Valles Flying Machine was playing and planning during the whole summer...from early May 2011 to Sept 2011..all the way up to the week of our Milwaukee Mini Tour...Texas Joe Valles has been writing and working on new songs for the band...he is never still when it comes to the bands music...he is almost always writing, thinking, and arranging new songs...new album titles..new artwork and new artists..illustrations and paintings to help the band focus and perpetuate its artistic dreams! Getting a 12 string acoustic back in April of 2011 was a huge help and and musical wellspring for the band ! as Texas Joe has writtten well over..10 new songs for the band...the 12 string was an artistic conduit to make these song ideas come alive..!

3 songs of note that we will start focusing on have these working titles..all on 12 string guitar...but very progy sounding..in the vein of bands like Hawkwind,Yes,early Genesis,P.F.M. Glass Harp and Rush. they are titled as such...

1.)Thankful for The Harvest..
2.) The Alexandria Star....
3.) Carry on Dragonfly....

all 3 songs are full blown rockers...and will surprize the audience with Valles Flying Machine's mature yet very powerful delivery of its muse !  be on the look out...

So in closing this blog...The summer ended with a great voyage out of Texas to Wisconsin...Summer 2011 has ended..Fall 2011 is here and the V.F.M. is about to record a whole slew of new songs and redefine its live image to the world..be on the lookout....we close this blog with some photos of V.F.M. on Stage in Milwaukke Wisconsin @ Bayveiw Music Festival and with family..hope you like them...enjoy..

Texas Joe finnally ready ...breathing a sigh of relief as he got the 12 string in tune and was ready to rock ! about to take the cap off and let the freak flag fly ha ha ! long hair still rocks !

Our Milwaukee Wisconsin Adventure..Sept 13th2011 to Sept21st2011 total fun Amazing Trip !  



September 13th 2011 outside a record shop in Denton Texas ..that bought our cd's for its record shelves imagine that.!!..??..!! Sam Martinez..took us there to show us around the city square very kool..little restaurants..second hand shops..book stores record and cd shops...vintage clothing shops..coffee houses..downtown Denton Texas is great !  Noe G ..Texas Joe ..Eloy...

Above  Texas Joe Valles Tuning up my Wire Instruments Moon Ray 12 string ...cold weather got to it ...but i got the bugs out...it can be nerve wracking...woring on a 12 string it tries your patience..but the benefits out weigh the hassles the crowd loved it..something new..not many bands are brave enough ..to ..use a 12 string in a differant way....we did it !  just listen to Witch Tree our album 12 string all over it !

Above at the Hotel after meet and great at Rush Mor Records Texas Joe  found on the wall a cd he had been wanting for over a year..after reading an article..in a Hi Fi Stereo Review Magazine....the 2009....remaster and remix..of In The Court of The Crimson King by King Crimson..the 1969 album totally redone..by Steve Wilson of Porcupine Tree..and  Robert Fripp..and excellent album,  beautiful sound great dvd also ! in the box set ! wow ! ..when I got home I played it for hours and hours..I love it !

Above we had totally spaced out ...and forgotten Harley Davison  Motorcycle Company is in Milwaukee Wisconsin..until some bikers told us in the parking lot of Motel 6 ..so on Sunday after breakfast and before Sunday gig we went for it...boy what an eye opening experience for Texas Joe and Eloy and Noe..! wow I was like a kid in a candy store..amazing !   we spent like almost 3 hours in the Museum it was fantastic..just the Bomb !  I was in dreamland ha ha !   I loved this Green and White  1940's Harely !


Above.....For some reason im really attracted to these very old 1920's Harelys..and the ones made between 1909..adn 1920's ! they grip at my soul...maybe its the simplistic design yet they can...intwine themselves into a humans complicated feelings and make u feel free..? who knows..i just loved them !  



This 1936..Harley..really popped my eyes out..this is what I love next to Choppers..about Harleys....just so damn kool..and I love the Green colors wow !

My Favorite of all the choppers I have ever seen Peter Fondas..American Flag..Harley Chopper...a replica of the bike used in the Easy Rider Film.from 1969....just amazing...a dream come true..!

Austin Texas,Gunslinger Show September 8th2011/Break Out on the Horizon !  

well folks welcome back seems our break out from the Rio Grande Valley is immenint ! and we will be touring across America soon..things never seem to happen the way you plan..they are either worse or better..and in this case it loks like it will be amazing !
Eloy and Texas Joe went to Ausin for Englands Gunslinger powertrios 1st show in America..and they were brilliant ! Luis..Alan and Kat..were a great band to watch live..!  (pictures soon hopefully ! )
but here is a picture of Texas Joe Eloy and Gunslinger plus road crew at breakfast September 9th 2011 @ a Mexican rest. on Lamar in Austin morning after thier show...great people !

the event  was totally rockin ! Gunslinger were totally over the top ..and the people loved them !  we hope to tour with them next year here in the States.
Well we are getting ready to go to Milwaukee, Wisconson for the Bayview Music Festival...should be an excellent show...we are going on @ 4.00 P.M. on the North Stage seems 4 stages have been provided for on the main drag...and thousands of people are expected to show up and participate in the days festivaties..we have not played out side of Texas in ages..since like 2006 ..so we are looking foreward to this show..!
anyway we had alot of fun..in Austin Texas this past Thursday and Friday and thnx to our buddy Bill Webb also for the cool vibes !

Gibson Les Paul Classic Premium Plus Model..in AAA Flame Cherry Sunburst..wow..takes your breath away...! this particular model is less than 10 years old and is in great condition..
Now let me tell the story of how Texas Joe got a hold of this baby doll!
Tuesday July 19th 2011 Texas Joe took a cruise to Raymondville, Texas to view the studios of VTX cable television and shoot the breeze with some cool people that work there...well...after the meeting..Texas Joe decided to visit the surrounding area pawnshops..to see if he could find any cool guitar pedals and or recording mics or anything of value for the bands studio..well..1st pawn shop was full of neat stuff...mics...some rack stuff..some cool cameras..and then Joe got to digging through the DVD's and realized he had been over an hour in this one particular pawnshop..well..it was getting late time to go home...but there was one more pawn shop down the road ...should  a visit be in order..? or just call it a day and go home..?
well my rational side and curious side got the best of me.The next pawn shop was just down the street...about 5 blocks.."lets just drop by real quick and take a quick look,then hit the highway for home.." This particular pawnshop..never has anything of real value...but..through the years...out of every 20 or 30 times i have hit this place i have gotten very lucky..and scored a kool guitar and or guitar gadget..but it is not often...well ...i had a funny feeling driving up to this pawnshop...a weird feeling..but I brushed it off "go in quick take a look and split.." Texas Joe said...well walked in..took a look around..ahh kool...a Peavey 5150 Eddie Van Halen 4x12 speaker cab..for 200 bux...not bad..kool I thought...next I looked at the Cameras..nice but not great then...I looked up to where the guitars were..at 1st glance I thought I was looking at a cheap imitation..then I took a second look and my eyes popped out wow..in mere nanoseconds Texas Joe processed the whole guitar ..Cherry Sunburst Finish..2 humbucking pickups...crown inlays...white piping...FLAME MAPLE TOP..VERY FLAMEY MAPLE TOP...WITH QUILT IN IT ALSO!  WOW ! 
asked the pawnshop employee if I could take a look at the guitar behind the counter he said "sure, yes, go for it"
Texas Joe ran around the counter..stumbled on a old X-BOX thrown on the floor..and could not get his hands on the Les Paul fast enough....wow..! it was light for a Gibson very light..! it was solid..beautiful cherry sunburst of flame and quilt top ! wow !  ..But one problem..and here it was ....
yup a cracked headstock...

Texas Joe was bummed for a second ..until he looked at the price ..."wait a minute this cant be right...its too cheap..thought to myself.." these guitars go for 2400.00 to 3000.00 dollars...and this price...well its what you would expect to pay for a very used Made in Japan Fender Guitar ! ..I was blown away...Texas Joe was thinking this is crazy this guitar is way cheap...we went through the whole guitar to see if it was a fake..nope it all checked out ,it was a real made in Nashville Gibson Les Paul...well I had to have it..so I called a Pawnshop employee over and asked if that was the real price and he told me..." nope...you can have it for less we need to move it cuz it has a broken headstock.cant have it like that in the store ..bad for business !!!  wow I could not believe my ears ! !!!!...he gave me a price..it shocked me...lets just say the price of a really cheap Fender guitar....and those are all over the pawn shops...so you get the idea...Texas Joe called Eloy...and Eloy cold not believe it also...so Texas Joe drove...back to Brownsville to pick up Eloy so they could both inspect the guitar through and through..yup it was the real deal except for a cracked..headstock..this Les Paul was the real deal ! so Eloy and Texas Joe paid for it...(Thnx ELOY)...and the pawnshop guys were very kool ..to us...very nice...even came with a Gibson Case ! and spare parts..!  what a deal...We took the guitar over to Eloy's and glued the neck right then and there..it was a clean break so..some wood glue..and a couple of days and it was good as new ! So here it is Thursday July 21st 2011..the guitar is restrung with .009 gauge strings and the glue bond is as good as ever...its not a super pro job but it is good and it will hold forever..! a pro job would cost at least 175.00..thats money for..another Danelectro guitar ha ha ! or a trip to Austin Texas...but for now its a great looking and working guitar...

well that about wraps up our little adventure for the early part of this week...but before we close out this blog I have to add...2 things..

1. got the new 2010 Spirit..Original Album Classics Box set...by Sony...with 5 of the early titles.(.Spirit 1..The Family That Plays Together..Clear..12 Dreams of Dr.Sardonicus.and Feedback.)...and ..will hopefully do a blog on these albums because they are great ... remastered also!


2. we have 5 booking agents trying to land us gigs all over The U.S.A. and not one has been able to land us a gig yet..due to the very bad economy and no clubs and or festivals really want..to hire..unknown bands hitting thier areas..like us..so we just have to roll with it until something happens for us....we have one tenative festival up in the NorthEast for September..and we had one cancelled for Chicago in August...but we are still trying..its not the bookers fault or our management partners...its just we are not out on the road ..not known yet..and so our drawing capacity...is in question... once people see us live all that will change but we are still trying and not giving up...

Texas Joe Scores ! ..Another Pawnshop Sweetheart Discovered!! June 23rd 2011  

Hello folks ! hope you are doing good and are having a nice rainy day ...like the one we had (and needed) in South Texas...well today Texas Joe had to run errands and found himself in..Harlingen Texas..Pawn Shop hunting...(been doing this since 30 years before Pawn Stars came out on cable..! )...had seen this little jewel of a guitar in very ruff shape at a pawn shop on the main drag several days ago...and decided to go back and " see if it was there.." well it was..funny thing is it had a tag on it that said "Great Fathers Day Gift" well I thought to myself Fathers Day has come and gone..Ill rearrange the tag..to read "Great Texas Joe Day Gift" yes more like it ! ha ha !  ...again like always with most guitars a person finds in a pawn shop it was dirty grimy..rusty strings..it had some kind of  grease hand cheese all over it...(soft soap is a great idea to keep in the car while pawn shp hunting ha ha ..) I asked the pawn shop employee if i could play it through an amp..and he gave me a cable to check it out..everything worked and it sounded pretty good...so..I purchased the axe...and went on my merry way..very happy..becuse what I had gotten was a very rare..find in South Texas...and anywhere for that fact I had scored a Left Handed...Danelectro U 56 2 pickup model guitar in Jet Black ! yay!
its hard enough to find a right handed normal model  but a lefty is beyond rare !  the guitar was strung right handed and it seemed to work good...so I left it like that when I restrung it with a new pair of 9 gauge strings from a quick trip to Dave's Music in Brownsville Texas..
Needless to say the guitar fills a huge and special niche in Texas Joe's Guitar arsenal...and the guitar has a super unique sound...
Famous guitar players like..Jimmy Page of Led Zepplin..Syd Barret of Pink Floyd...and one of my favorites..Randy Califronia ..of the band Spirit...could really put the Danelectro Guitars through some great songs and get great original  tones from them..one of my favorite Psychedelic albums of alltime is ..The Twelve Dreams of Dr.Sardonicus by the band Spirit..



.which has a Danelectro U 56 all over it courtesy of Randy Californias great guitar playing..his phrasing..tone choices...effects..are just incredible on this record..and most of it was done on a Dano U 56 guitar.....Randy below...with Spirit..

.if they were good enough for Randy ..well its good enough for me...but Texas Joe's is lefty....ha ha ..so it has a quirky vibe...

This is not the 1st Dano guitar Texas Joe has owned..previously ..there was a Seafoam Green 2 pickup righty U 56 model...and a Purple Sparkle DC59 righty model..also..(the Jimmy Page Model ) as some people know it..with double cutaway at neck which is differant from the Single cutaway of the U56 model..that Randy California preffered..
Well folks thats about it for now...we are waiting for a cool article in local press so we are pretty jazzed...about it..plus we have...tenatively sceduled a 4rth of July gig if all goes well...(gigs are getting harder and harder to find in South Texas..but thats another story for another day..) so we got some kool stuff in the works...This Dano will probably ..see some recording time on our new Sirenita Blues album if all goes well...but for now our new album Witch Tree is for sale and picking up steam....here ..

Texas Joe Valles spent the whole afternoon of Sunday, February 13th 2011 putting up the music and making sure it is all in order..so we hope you will enjoy this album ..and also purchase a copy for your enjoyment since the CD copies are long sold out !! 
We only made 1000 copies of this cd and its all gone...
in our opinion the whole album has stood the test of time very well..the only sad thing is we did not land a Spanish slanted record deal out of this endevour ...(half the album was cut in Spanish with the help of Ricky DelCastillo in Austin Texas.back in Fall of 1998.)...but as Eloy Valles says "we have enough music for 3 Spanish albums should the Latin Labels ever come calling ..so Fuck it !! lets concentrate on what we really love  Classic Style Rock and Psych Rock ! " ...so here we are ..and there it is ...we hope you like it and some of you who have lost your old cd copy buy some fresh downloads ! anyway enjoy !

as for WitchTree our new album, all the cover art work is done we are just waiting for the Masters to come back from Los Angeles..and then we will press up the CD's and get them ready for sale...Witch Tree is a very strong album ..it is also on Bandcamp.com...(if you wanna buy some downloads)...but the artwork...and Masters are not yet up for sale or for viewing we are keeping those secret until we press up the album!

Sirenita Blues/Mermaid Blues...our 5song E.P. ...has taken a backseat due to Family concerns..Work Concerns..bad weather...The Holidays and thier aftermath and other problems we consider to be slight bullshit that seem to get in the way..! but hopefully we will start up on it and have this album ready before Spring turns into summer ! Witch Tree Album Sleeve done... it arrived from England !  

 Hi Everybody hope you are all doing well....this past weekend was very busy for me ...Texas Joe Valles ...MoonBeans Coffee House gig on Friday night with my new find EANDO..went very well...the girls are rocking ...and the people are showing up I love it !  they are getting so good and flowing from song to song so well its great...then on Saturday went and got more gigs in Harlingen Texas ...San Benito Texas...and South Padre Island Texas...the girls are hott..!    everywhere I show them off and they perform its all great vines !   im soo happy for them..(.I dont want them making the same stupid friggin mistakes ..me and ELOY & NOE..made for the past 25 years....if we had a mentor  and the internet wayy back then..we would have already been famous and been in the pro leagues not fucking still screwing around in the Rio Grande Valley ...! ) anyway  here it is Sunday the 30th of January...and surprize ..surprize ....Anna our friend in England has sent us our album cover proofs they are  awesome and great and the cd cover will be amazing ! Eloy liked it and I loved it also...again we are just waiting for the mixes and off to the record plant they will go...if all goes well we will press it up on 33 rpm wax..records also ! l also !  our album covers lend them selves to big sleeves..!    
 Eloy and me (Texas Joe ) also rehearsed for a bit on some new songs....and earlier in the day I went to pay some bills and found some very Kool AKG mics in a pawnshop for really cheap ! ..so i got them wow i been getting lucky at pawn shops..! 

lets recap the week....
1. built this new cool website...thxx to bandzoogle .com   and my buddy John in Atlanta..! 
2. got our 4 cd panels laid out..and sent off to England...
3. Got alot of kool gigs for EANDO...(and a great new guitar for cheap in a pawnshop for them )ha ha ! 
5. got our album covers and sleeves back from England and they are amazing ! very clean and well laid out !  we are happy..! ready to press up cd's ..! 
5. found some great AKG mics  (Perception220's )in a pawnshop for cheap !   excellent for studio recording ! 

and now... gonna chill out for Sunday night checking out some kool movies i got ..from Public  Library..

ok seems I did and we did pretty good this week...wish you all the best ...im out of Cyber Space for this weekend !
