Hello everybody hope you have enjoyed our blogs ..since this webite went up in January its fairly new so more will be added as time goes on.!
we are gonna post a series of poster/flyers and pictures to comment on..and because they relate to the topics we will hit on ..by the way today is February 17th 2011 afternoon in a McDonalds 1st time we try thier WIFI ..see how it goes...its fun to go out on the town to do these blogs helps me think..fast ha ha !
1st up is a poster one of our close friends from California made for the band back in like 2004 or 2005...it has alot of color..and it gravitates towards the whole jamband /prog/hippie vibe we are trying to push towards in our music and life..more artistic with alot of color..this poster says that in color washes big time !
we believe this poster has done a good job of saying who we are..and have used it only a couple of times..but it works well..
Next up is a series of flyers using a more "Risque Artiste" Idea of design. The flyers were put together by our buddy Noe G. but the idea is wholly Texas Joe in concept.
The flyers/posters announce a gig from 2009 but these styles of ad copy are more attention grabbing than what we had used in the past..
notice the all the fat colors..and saturation used for the posters most is clip art
and the picture of the band is from a show in McAllen Texas from Summer of 2010
due to Texas Joe's love of Roger Dean and Rodney Matthews the fonts are along those lines..Noe G came up with color scheme and font art it is well suited for the band .
you will also notice the MySpace..advert well that place is a cyber ghost town hence the V.F.M.'s building of this new website in January2011.
Next is a Flyer for a show in 2009... 2 differant adverts 2 differant styles and the old myspace site...
The model on this poster is our friend Anna from England very pretty girl and very psych in style...the next poster has a Betty Page vibe but puts the point across very well..also.
Funny thing about these flyers,they were placed all over downtown Brownsville and we never found a single one in the gutter or left on telephone polls or walls seems people like them and took them home! ha ha ! the shows were done in an art gallery so that might have something to do with thier validation as art !
Lately alot of people have asked the band "Hey, whens your next show..?" well the truth is gigs here locally in South Texas for the most part are hopeless! pay is bad..turn out is worse..! alot of people just dont have cash to splurge...so they dont go out..but there is a saving grace in our new cyber world that helps ! and that is You Tube ! you can see us performing there..just type in Valles Flying Machine..!!!!!!!!!!!!!
below are some pictures from a gig in San Benito Texas 4rth of July 2008..very funny gig that one, half the people clapped it was alot of people and half the people just stood there with a stupid look on thier face very weird, funny and dumb at the same time..but thats to be expected down here on the border.!
the band was in top form this day ..thxx to our buddy Rudy Rodriguez who was ..FRONT OF HOUSE MIXER.. we had a great sound even though the day was extremely muggy !
we had a nice crowd this 4rth of July and we debuted alot of new songs from our current ..Witch Tree..and Landing Sessions...plus some old songs also...but it also showed us that we really need to tour and hit North America and Europe to a broader fan base...and gain more of a crowd.
Following poster is for a new song called Hearts Garden that is on our new album due very soon called Witch Tree .This song is a tribute to one of V.F.M. 's biggest influences Thin Lizzy..and Phil Lynotts style of songwriting. We think we hit the nail on this one and are very proud of this song...The Artwork is by our good friend Greg Spalenka..from L.A. who has graciously let us use this amazing art work..we hope we have done it justice becuae it is amazing .

In closing this blog for today..January 17th 2011 we are still waiting for our song mixes to arrive from Los Angeles ,but once they do the cd's will be pressed up and ready for sale..but Hearts Garden like most of our songs is available for download at our music website..here..
